When 2 busy entrepreneurs with impeccable taste get together on a home reno project, the results are bound to be amazing. It doesn't hurt that the location is a stone's throw down the hill from the first lookout of Cypress Mountain's road... the views are incredible.

The long and linear layout of the space begged for an open plan and the owners obliged with the foresight to keep the flooring material consistent throughout, to take advantage of the open expanses and employed a 24x48" large format porcelain tile to enhance the open feel and make the space feel as large as possible. Because of the small footprint and continuous run of high-density porcelain, the use of Laticrete's Strata_Heat radiant heating system throughout means the space is warm and inviting in the winter and cooling in the summer. 

The directionality of the tile is retained throughout the space, linking each room and even the expansive patio, through the wall-to-wall sliding doors that integrate the outdoor space in warmer months. Retaining the 24x48" format ensure visual as well as technical continuity as the joint lines run uninterrupted across the thresholds. By switching to the 2cm porcelain pavers on a pedestal system, the transition is achieved seamlessly and allows for waterproofing, slopes and drainage to be handled below-grade, keeping the aesthetics of the patio sharp. 

Every detail from the porcelain slab counters to the pavers on the patio is easy to live with and easier to care for which was of prime concern for the clients who like their space looking great but don't want to have to baby it. From the expansive view, to the expansive interior... this home winks nonchalantly at the world in comfort and oozes style.
